A tribute to Nelson Mandela

Rolihlahla, mama called him
The innocent troublemaker of the town
He had his life ahead of him;
A future to look forward to

The injustice of the government
Fuelled the raging fire in him.
‘Madiba’, they nicknamed him-
An activist for peace was born.

Equal rights was the target
Peace was the only key
Justice was his drive
His people must be free.

In the fight for freedom
He ended up prisoner,
Locked behind bars
Tagged 46664.

But metal bars never stopped him,
Not the hard labour or even the lime mining
He had a reason to fight
And if need be, to die.

On Robben Island
A community was formed.
A generation of young activists
Who shared in his fight.

It spread on like wildfire
Soon all voices united
The people sang and cried
Free nelson Mandel!

On that faithful day of spring
In the year 1990
When for the first time, a baby cried
Alas! He was set free.

And now, he has achieved his dream
The rest is up to us all
We must be the voice of the underprivileged
46664…it’s in our hands

The greatest leader of our time,
Spent 27 years in prison
How far would you go to help your brother?
How much would you give of your time?

Remember the number,
Remember the man: Nelson Mandela
Because from now on,
It’s in our hands!

And I Have You

Rain has drops

Sun has shine

Moon has beams

That make you mine

Rivers have banks

Sands for shores

Hearts have heartbeats

That make me yours

Needles have eyes

Though pins may prick

Elmer has glue

To make things stick

Winter has Spring

Stockings feet

Pepper has mint

To make it sweet

Teachers have lessons

Soup du jour

Lawyers sue bad folks

Doctors cure

All and all

This much is true

You have me

And I have you

NIKKI GIOVANNI

Forgiveness

F------favoured, blesses and loved us
Broke us free from the enemy’s curse
O------original friend,
Always there till the end
R-------remembered us,
Lifted us and made us prosperous
G------gave us life,
Spent so much to make us nice
I-------infinite mercy always flows from his throne.
We were chosen to be his own
V------verified our rights to be his people,
Gave us bodies so complex and amazing yet simple
E------errors are cancelled by God-
The everlasting and glorious lord of all
N------never puts our mistakes into consideration;
Shows us love without condition
E------eternal king and prince of peace,
Always there to make sure our joy never ceases
S------sacred and secure, chastises us
And shed his blood to make us pure
S------sufficient grace,
Enough to satisfy us all our days

IN life, sometimes we just need to hit the delete button and erase all the wrongs made against us!....try it and feel the peace that comes with doing so.

friends......Season, reaon or lifetime?

i was reading sha's blog and i came across this which i thought i should share:

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learnedto use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

it so funny(well not literally)..i've had issues with friends these poast weeks and it just leaves me wondering? am i alone in this world? do i have friends i can trust?
i'm just a bit worried 'cos it seems i keep losing my good friends..i mean they remain my friends until a certain point when they suddenly change anf decide to betray me or just to create an argument out of nothing..*sigh*

Emotive reactions

Laughter on the face of a child
The calm and joy it brings
But slowly,
With a few deep words
The smile turns upside down
And from the pit of such a moody heart
Sadness bells forth…
Followed by depression and tears
But while on the brink of tears,
Some sweet words are spoken
Then joy and calm radiates
……to see laughter on the face of a child.

The Red Rose

The red rose, so pretty
Attracts every element of nature including the bee
The morning dew dances on her petals
She is vibrant with colour.
She stands out in the field
Compared to other flowers she is unique.
With her innermost beingShe calls out to everything.
The birds in flightStop at her breathtaking sight
Blossoming as she comes to life,
The rose mirrors light; nothing can outshine.
