Nineteen

Reminiscing on the times
When I was a little girl.
The tight black curls,
The beginning of the upward climb.

Then like everything must,
That little girl changed.
Like the green of the favourite dress faded
Childishness slowly ebbed away.

There were days when I played in the rain
And others I had to allay pain.
I managed all the roles,
Both young and old.

A little more fun and adventure,
High school was hard work.
A greater responsibility; a risky venture
Having friends for life was an added perk!

My life came to a pause,
I felt stuck on a spot.
In the attempt to find myself,
I discovered God in a greater depth.

Now, I’m a living work-in-progress
With a touch of brilliance.
Coming together are the puzzle pieces;
It’s another day for me to rejoice and be glad!

Happy birthday - and, for the work in progress, "he who has begun a good work in you will complete it unto Jesus Christ's day", Philippians 1: 6.
